1942 RATIONING RECIPE SUGARLESS CANDY

Due to rationing some party foods were scarce and some odd recipes were developed. This recipe from the 1942 Life advertisement is for candy, but doesn't sound very appetizing. The cereal is a little like mini shredded wheat, note sugar is rationed but honey is not.

Ingredients

2 cups cereal

3/4 cup honey

1 teaspoon grated lemon or orange peel

Directions

Over medium heat mix cereal and the honey and grated peel. Fold gently over medium heat until glazed, about 3 minutes.
